I totally overlooked the Action Wizard option to save all window states. Thanks for the heads-up, Paul.

Don't worry about him, Paul. I for one love the constant updates and dedication.

Very cool! I now use this tip as a kind of "boss key" so I can swipe to an empty desktop when I want to hide my windows. ;D
#4
Great tip! This would also be useful for sharing files as text in Reddit posts and things like that. Interesting concept.

What the heck... you really do think of everything.

I had no idea you could filter screenshots from an action. Will be using this a LOT.

I use States just to position my app windows, rather than launch and position them. I just right-click the system tray icon of Toolbox and pick the state to restore. Each state has only "Restore layouts of listed items" checked, with the other options unchecked. Makes it quick and simple to move everything where I want them.

General Discussion / Re: Firewall function: wow!

I concur with Bazza. This is a killer function! I would've paid for an app that solely did this, but to be part of everything else that Toolbox offers is really cool.

Glad you like my tip, oblivion.

Never a good idea. Thanks for the story!

Tips and Tricks / Maximize any resizable window with F11
December 21, 2025, 12:31:04 PM
Here's my entry for the contest. I don't normally use F11 for anything but Edge, which makes it fullscreen. So I thought why not make F11 maximize (fullscreen) any other window that supports being maximized? Press F11 on any window that can be resized and it toggles from normal to maximized, including folders.

Edit: This only works for one monitor (which is what I have). For multiple monitors, see Paul's tip further below.

(Start)
TIP: Copy from Start to End to paste into an action.
0001 Action: Allow failure messages "0"
0002 Window: Assign active ""
0003 Action: Do this block if "winx$<>-8"
0004   Window: Maximize to fill desktop ""
0005   Action: Finish ""
0006 Action: End of block ""
0007 Window: Restore size from max/min ""
(End)

I did go overboard with my enthusiasm, so oblivion should be safe. I didn't post about it more than any of the other regular posters there, though. I'm sure I was personally head-hunted and banned out of spite.

General Discussion / Thank you for this forum!
December 16, 2025, 05:33:23 PM
Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for this forum!

I used to post about AlomWare Toolbox all the time on Reddit, mainly on r/software and r/windows. Then r/software had some new moderators come on board and one of them BANNED ME permanently for my posts. No reason given. Lost over 10 years of Reddit history, which included non-software posts and discussions I had. :( Reddit truly is toxic and has power-tripping mods.

Now that you've got this forum, I can contribute again without the smell of Reddit moderators watching every post. ;D

I have no problem with the thumbnails showing on Windows 11 taskbar.
