How do we backup our actions?

Sometimes I'm worried that I'll lose them. :-\

Hi Bazza. AlomWare Toolbox is portable, so you can just zip its folder to back everything up for the app.

But if you want to back up specific single actions, you can right-click them and select "Save as" from the menu. They're just plain text files. To restore them later, just open the saved text files, copy the text, and paste them into an action's Step list box.

Can you make it so we can select a bunch of actions, right click, and save them into a zip file or something? Then import them back by right clicking the action list and importing from the zip file. That would be a lot better.

To add to this -- my early actions were made in the functional group it seemed like they belonged in, alongside all the examples that get made by the "add default actions" and the ones that are already there.

Which made sense to me but I kept forgetting where I'd put them, for some reason. It's me age, I expect. :D

So I've now moved everything I've made and some of the existing ones I've modified extensively into a single group ("My Useful Stuff!") and it occurs to me that the ability to back up a whole group off a right-click would also be a Useful Thing. :)

I would like to be able to backup my actions as well. Is this still on the roadmap?

Can I make a suggestion?

How about a (hopefully simple) right-click function that could take the currently selected action and copy it to a Note, with the action name as the first line of the note and a the hotkey as the second? Oh, maybe some element that could be used as a search criterion so you could find all your backed-up actions easily?

I totally forgot about action backups. :( I promise to do it soon. I don't want to do the add-to-note thing because that's more of a custom request and I prefer to avoid those. To find backed-up actions, I'll see what I can do.

Fair enough. :)

However, I do wonder if a command to create / edit a note from an action might be a useful thing?

Just to make that perhaps a bit better expressed: one of my gadgets is a notes program called Cintanote. Something it can do, which often comes in useful, is I can highlight some text somewhere, hit a hotkey, and Cintanotes will create a new note with the selected text as the content. So it's that sort of functionality I'm thinking of here.

I can add that, yes (an action step to create a note).
