In the list of changes for v7, I see you've removed the auto-close for quotes and brackets and so forth.

Why? I used that, found it useful. Did it have unintended consequences? Surely, if it caused problems for people, they could just turn it off... or have you moved the setting somewhere else -- or made it an action instead of a tweak?

Hi oblivion. There were non-English keyboard hardware issues for it, and it won't record in a macro, so I took it out. But it's back now for you in the next pre-release update. I've emailed you the link. Here's the current Change Log for paid users:

Restored: Due to several requests we've restored the keyboard tweak to auto-close pairs of: " ( { [. Seems this was a popular feature, but we had no idea because we don't monitor you. Just be aware that this feature can't work with macro recording (which is why it was removed).

Bug fix: For restoring folder layouts to a pre-selected folder view.

Bug fix: For some icons not being displayed correctly in the Dock and app's system tray menu.

Major addition: You can now show windows by searching their title text in the Command box with "@" as the prefix. So to minimize all windows and show only the Calculator, you'd press AlomWare Toolbox's hotkey and type "@calc" to see only Calculator (with all other non-matching windows getting minimized). Closing AlomWare Toolbox's window after a search will then auto-activate the matching window for you.

Enhancement: The "Custom Process Killer" buttons now show tooltips when enabled and hovered over with the mouse; to show full process names that are too long to show on a button.

Maintenance: Other miscellaneous internal bug and stability fixes, code optimisations, and cosmetic text changes.

Hi -- on this, it occurred to me that if one of the reasons you might NOT want autoclosing brackets and quotes is that it doesn't work with macro recording, maybe there could be an action that would temporarily disable it so a macro-recording user could hit a hotkey prior to the recording starting?

I guess that might also make it possible to set up routines that would enable or disable autoclosing quotes etc for specific applications -- which would be useful, now I think of it, as I had to work out how to disable autoclosing brackets in one of the text editors I use, that already did it.

I imagine I'm making it sound easier than it actually is! :D

Thanks for putting it back, anyway :)

In v7.0.0.0 there was a new action step added called "Toolbox: Enable keyboard monitoring", with a value of "1" to enable it, "0" to disable it, or "toggle" to flip it. So this can be done from a hotkey prior to recording as you mentioned. :) And yes, an action with that step can be triggered when a window is activated that needs auto-closing disabled.
