Welcome to AlomWare Toolbox!

AlomWare Toolbox saves you time, work and money (Figure 1) by solving daily work productivity problems and inconveniences of your PC by using tweaks and automation to make your tasks easier. You're about to wonder how you ever used your PC without it! :)

Backing up: AlomWare Toolbox is portable software, meaning that the app and its data is saved locally (offline) in the folder where you unzipped it. As such, the app has no built-in backup function for its data, because to back up you just copy its folder somewhere safe. Easy!

Preparing for first use

The app name for AlomWare Toolbox is "Toolbox.exe" and you may need to add this to your anti-virus software's "white list" or "exclusions" list. This is because some anti-virus apps and Windows (the OS) may accidentally perceive "Toolbox.exe" as malicious because it can do things like auto-type for you and auto-position windows. Therefore, you may need to add "Toolbox.exe" as an exclusion in the Security settings of Windows, and/or also in your anti-virus app. For your reference, Figure 2 below shows where to white-list "Toolbox.exe" in Windows 10.

When you first double-click "Toolbox.exe" to run the app, you might get a warning that Windows has "protected your PC" (Figure 3). This can happen because you haven't run the app on this PC before, and is not a cause for concern. To fix this, first click the "More info" link in the warning, and then click the "Run anyway" button to allow it to run (also Figure 3).

Figure 3

You should always try and run AlomWare Toolbox with administrator rights if possible (double-click item A in Figure 4), as this solves 99% of usability problems because due to allowing the app to interact with and work on all windows and apps on your PC, and gives access to all files that you may want to work with. If you run AlomWare Toolbox with standard rights, then it won't be able to interact with and work on any other windows that have administrator rights, leading you to wonder why nothing's happening with those windows. It also means the app won't be able to access some areas of your C: drive, such as the file-watching feature in the Files tab. These are not bugs with AlomWare Toolbox but rather rights issues imposed by the Operating System.

When AlomWare Toolbox first runs, you'll see an End-User License Agreement (EULA) that details its terms of use (Figure 5). You must read and agree to the terms of the EULA to use the app; otherwise you may decline and delete the app from your PC.

Figure 5

If you agree, the default and main hotkey for the app is [Ctrl]+[`], which means to hold down the [Ctrl] key and press the [`] key (grave) at the same time (Figure 6). This hotkey is used to show AlomWare Toolbox's main window, so you can edit your automated actions and access the other productivity features of the app.
Figure 6

If this default hotkey is already in use by another app on your PC, or is reserved by the OS (such as [Ctrl]+[Scroll Lock]), then you'll get a prompt asking you to specify a different hotkey (Figure 7). Choose a hotkey of your liking, and click the [OK] button.

You cannot use the app without setting the main hotkey!

If you ever forget the main hotkey, you can see it by hovering your mouse over the app's icon in the System Tray (Figure 8).
