Support / Troubleshooting

Anti-virus inteference:  As mentioned in the Startup section, the first thing you should do is add "Toolbox.exe" to your anti-virus exclusion list (also known as a white-list). This ensures AlomWare Toolbox can always be run smoothly and reliably without being mistakenly blocked by your anti-virus software. Remember, AlomWare Toolbox is totally safe (see satisfied user reviews on Trustpilot, plus third-party malware audits at Google's Transparency Report and VirusTotal); but its automation power makes some low-quality anti-virus software go into panic mode and stop it from running.

Administrator rights:  You should always try and run AlomWare Toolbox with administrator rights if possible (the default), as this solves 99% of usability problems because it allows the app to interact with and work on all windows and apps on your PC, and gives access to all files that you may want to work with. If you run AlomWare Toolbox with standard rights, then it won't be able to interact with and work on any other windows that have administrator rights, leading you to wonder why nothing's happening with those windows. It also means the app won't be able to access some areas of your C: drive, such as the file-watching feature in the Files tab. These are not bugs with AlomWare Toolbox but rather rights issues imposed by the Operating System. You can run AlomWare Toolbox with administrator rights by either double-clicking either the "Toolbox Admin.bat" file or "Toolbox.exe" file in its folder (items A and C in Figure 1). To run AlomWare Toolbox with standard rights (giving it less power and control of your PC), double-click the "Toolbox Standard.bat" file.

Double-clicking either of the ".bat" files will flash up a brief black pop-up window, which is normal and unavoidable.

Figure 1

Double-click this to run AlomWare Toolbox with administrator rights (more power and control of your PC as you choose). You may need to enter a User Account Control (UAC) password.
Double-click this to run AlomWare Toolbox with standard rights (prevents interaction with other third-party administrator windows, and with some protected file areas such as the C: drive).
Same as item A above. Item A is needed to run AlomWare Toolbox as administrator at startup/login, because "Toolbox.exe" can't be run as a shortcut from the Windows "Startup" folder.
